Friends@Home
In the Friends @ Home program, pairs of teenage volunteers visit children with special needs in their homes on a regular basis (once a week or once a fortnight during the school year), engaging them in a variety of activities based on the child’s preferences. Over time, a friendship emerges based on understanding and respect.
Before we pair the buddies with their special friend, we meet and discuss with each of them all the different activities they like to do. On that basis we try to find the most suitable match.
A Friendship Circle coordinator always supervises the first meeting. The coordinator is there to offer advice to the buddy and suggest what they can do together.
The Friendship Circle coordinator stays in contact with the buddy and the families and provides ongoing support for each.
